First excerpt: Harem

What does a modern day Harem look like? Why would any woman want to sign up for it?

Robin has her reasons: If she completes her training with success, and stays with the keeper of the harem for six months, she'll go home with a lot of money. Spending a few months with a rich woman, with no romantic strings attached, and considerable wealth waiting for her at the end? Robin is all in, but the experience comes with many surprises, one of them her mentor Elizabeth whose job it is to prepare her for the harem life.

Robin

Last night, I dreamed that I was going to join a harem. I had answered an obscure ad, filled out some paperwork, and against all odds, they called me back. I wasn’t going to be plunged into a life of endless leisure and sex right away, no, I’d move in with a mentor for a while. That mentor would teach me everything I needed to know about the woman in whose inner circle I might or might not end up—for, you know, a life of endless leisure and sex. If I were to pass, I’d live in the harem for another six months at least. After that, I could decide whether or not I wanted to stay. In a heartbeat every dream I ever had would be in reach. After those six months—or a year—I could take the money and travel, Europe, South America, whatever came to mind. I could make a down payment on a house, or, if I happened to become the lady’s favorite, even pay it off. I would never have to worry about money, ever again.

In return, I would be hers to do with as she pleased, within limits, of course. The contract forbids any form of abuse—that would be grounds for immediate termination. Food, housing, health insurance, all of that would be taken care of. Even if I never got to see her, I’d come out of it with enough money to tide me over for a few months, but of course, that wasn’t the goal. I would give it my best. Not just because I was desperate for a change, but because the concept was such a taboo breaker. It freaked me out as much as it excited me. In the days leading up to day one, I couldn’t sleep. I kept imagining what she would be like. In my mind, I skipped from my time with the mentor straight to the moment when I’d be invited to the inner sanctum. I would make her want me. I knew how to. If anything, I could probably teach the mentor lady something.

I stand in my bedroom, my packed suitcase on my bed, my heart beating fast. The cab is going to be here in a few minutes, and then there’s no turning back. Silly—the point of no return came and went a while ago, when I signed the contract. Should I have invested in a lawyer, have them go over it? I read it about two dozen times and didn’t find anything alarming, other than perhaps the fact that it sounds too good to be true.

The woman in question is about a decade older than me, attractive, rich, all the clichés you could possibly apply. I assume she wants to test the boundaries of what money can buy. Who am I to blame her for that? I’m going to benefit from it, big time, and so will the other women who were crazy enough to sign up. Does that mean she has a dozen of “mentors,” women who are what, trying out the applicants? Or a number lower than that, and they’re going to sleep with more than one applicant? Part of the contract is an extensive medical record—everyone is going to be just fine with everyone else.

What will her fantasies be like? Ordinary, as in two people together, or would she want to push the envelope, voyeurism, exhibitionism, orgies? There was nothing about BDSM in the contract, so I take for granted that it won’t be an issue. Other than that, I’m open to pretty much everything, aren’t I? I could possibly write a book about my experience later.

There’s the small, extremely unlikely chance that I might fall in love. I shake my head at this ridiculous idea, then jump as the cab driver honks outside.

This is it. There’s no excuse—it’s official that I must have lost my mind.

I’m joining a harem. It wasn’t a dream after all.

A surprise for you!

Are you a fan of the Surrender Trilogy and The Gift? This is for you, a short story told from another character's point of view. You can read the beginning of Absolution here.

My name is Emily DeMarco. I used to be a cop. A pretty good one, even—until I got fired. I’m one curious incident away from getting fired again, from my new job as a security guard at one of the biggest malls in the city. If I was delusional enough, I could tell myself it’s her fault.

As it is, I know it’s all me.

I can’t let go.

When I first met her, I was on the job, gathering information about the escort service she was working for at the time. The plan was to shut it down for good. From that point on, everything in my life became chaos. Looking back at the men I’ve dated, I never thought that a woman performing an illegal profession could teach me something, about myself, about the wrong turns I’d taken. Perform, she did. And I took the worst turn of my life, falling for her.

Would you like to read more? Download Absolution here. I also uploaded a copy to the two biggest Facebook groups for lesbian books. (Lesbian Books, writers, readers and Lesbian Book Readers Club). You'll find it in the Files section.
If you read this free story, I hope you consider leaving a review for either the trilogy or The Gift.
Thank you!

Willow: New Excerpt

Willow has been out for a week, so I thought it's time for another excerpt...

She started early the next morning, going around the places Willow had shown her—no, she wasn’t going to rip out the beautiful pool, but she’d have enough time and a budget to update the stone tiles surrounding it. She’d replace some of the soil and old, almost dead plants, add a few citrus trees. Even with seemingly small changes, it would be more than she had in store, so she’d make those orders later.

Kat thought about a couple of potted plants in marble vases, and a fire pit. So far, Willow had signed off on all her ideas, not showing too much interest in any of them.

Yes, she designed pretty things, in an attempt to balance out everything in her life that hadn’t been so pretty.

“Jesus, when did you get up? Sit down, take a break.”

Kat turned around to find Willow coming down the stairs to the backyard, carrying two mugs of coffee. She was wearing a T-shirt and shorts, barefoot.

“I don’t have much time, but…Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. There I thought you’d be wearing those sexy overalls all the time.”

Kat nearly choked on her coffee, a latte actually. “I have to make some orders and meet with a few people, but I’ll change into something else once I get started here. Don’t worry.”

“I look forward to it. There’s something incredibly sexy about a woman hard at work.”

“Whatever you say. I need to get back to it too. Thanks for the coffee.”

“Kat?”

She turned around to face Willow.

“I know the idea that Dad hired you makes you a little uncomfortable, but he’s not here right now. We’re both adults. Whatever we feel like…”

“Look, Willow, don’t get me wrong. You can certainly do whatever you feel like, but I have a job to do here. I’m sorry.”
The sun wasn’t up that high yet, so there was no reason for her to feel this hot. She had to be more careful. Forget about Franklin. She didn’t want to be somebody’s experiment.

Seven Days to go! An excerpt from Willow (coming May 18th)

Do you like to escape into an adventure that brings the heat and the action? Willow might be right for you, and you only have to wait seven days for it to appear on your Kindle. Look for it on May 18th, 2017. Like all my other titles, Willow will be in Kindle Unlimited:

Kat left her job six years ago to open a landscaping business and pursue a less dangerous lifestyle. She would never consider the offer her old partner and mentor Franklin Garrett makes her if she didn’t owe him: She’s supposed to look after his daughter Willow during his absence, using her business for a cover story.

Kat’s situation is further complicated by Willow’s interest in her. Can she trust her to be serious? Does she want her to be?

Kat soon learns that the danger is real, and she has to make some hard decisions…

Excerpt:

“You saw that sign in the window? I do landscaping now. Unless you want me to overhaul your backyard, leave.”

Just like that, the trap fell shut.

“That’s exactly what I’m here for,” Franklin said.

Even though she’d had coffee less than half an hour ago, Kat poured herself another cup, again, stalling. She didn’t believe for a minute that he was here to hire her for a landscaping job. He had come to collect. He wanted to hire her all right, draw her back into a life she’d long left behind. No way. No fucking way.

“Right.”

“It’s the truth. I have no time to take care of this, or even check for someone who would. The guy who used to cut the grass every once in a while, moved away, and it’s a bit of a mess now. When I heard you were in the business, I said a prayer in gratitude…too much?” he asked when she couldn’t hide the amused smile.

“Way too much. Look, I have work to do here. Unless you tell me the truth, I’m not listening to you. I’m not even here, so don’t bother. Move. I need my chair.”

Kat turned to the file cabinets and started taking out client files.

“Okay, okay. Sit down. The truth, I promise.”

Against better judgment, she halted, intrigued.

“I do need you to take care of that mess in the backyard—”

Franklin,” she warned.

“And you will do it,” he continued. “You know it and I know it. You owe me, and I’m sure you already figured out that this will be it. You’re getting off easy though. You have three months, and I’ll pay you more than this little business of yours is worth.”

Three months probably weren’t an exaggeration. While she’d never seen his estate, Franklin was loaded, and if his outdoor space needed work, it wouldn’t be done in a few days. Curiosity had always been her weakness. She sat back down, watched him take a photograph out of his wallet. He sighed before he laid it on the desk.

It was the portrait of an attractive younger woman who would have caught Kat’s eye right away. Franklin’s next words, however, served as the equivalent of a cold shower.

“That’s my daughter Willow.”

Cover Reveal: Willow

Coming May 18th, here's a story that will have a little more action (although, if you're familiar with Penny and Carter, it's not that much more), but still bring the heat:

What you see:
Kat has been running her landscaping business for several years, and she's seen some success.
Willow seems to have lost all ambition after the end of her marriage, spending her days at her rich father's pool.

What you get:
Both of them have secrets, and a complicated past, professionally and privately. It doesn't help that Willow's father is still a high-ranking member of the organization Kat left six years ago.
Do these two women have a future together?

This time, I have chosen not to go with the pre-order option, so May 18th will definitely be the day when you can first grab your copy. As all my titles are, Willow will be in Kindle Unlimited as well.

Excerpt: Surrender Your Heart

Since it will be another few weeks until the release of Willow, I wanted to give you another teaser from Surrender Your Heart. You can read all the parts of the trilogy, plus a short Christmas sequel, in Kindle Unlimited. Enjoy.

I find the library eventually, once again stunned by its beauty. I walk along the shelves, touch the leather-bound volumes. Along with the human sciences and classics, there are dictionaries and encyclopedias. Everything.

Everything. I sit in one of the leather chairs, once more overwhelmed by my situation, all the aspects of it. It looks like my work situation and studies are taken care of—I use those terms loosely—but what about my family, my friends? Does she really think no one will ask questions?

All of a sudden, I’m not so impressed by this gorgeous space anymore. I realize that whenever she’s with me, my doubts start to dissolve. It seems ridiculous to think this stunning confident woman could somehow become the person to realize my worst nightmare. She took me from my home without my consent. I want answers. I want them now. If I give in to whatever draws me to her, which I can’t seem to deny, I’ll lose myself. I need a little more reassurance.

I turn around, then into every direction, trying to find what could be the most likely place to hide a camera. Oh well. It doesn’t matter.

“I’m sure you can hear me,” I say out loud, instantly feeling silly, but I carry on. “If not you, you have someone watching me. I admit I’ve been a little slow on the uptake, forgive me, nothing like this has ever happened to me. We need to talk. Now.”

Actually, I’m feeling worse by the minute. There I let her wine and dine me, touch me, the next moment wondering whether she could be working with sex traffickers, or what’s going to happen to my job. There are real people who are probably already worried for me. I don’t talk to my parents on the phone every week, but if they tried to reach me…I don’t know. All of a sudden, my mind is filled with worse case scenarios.

It hasn’t been that long. It feels like I’ve already spent an eternity here, with dubious prospects. Going to the pool. Studying on my own. Pleasure like I’ve never known it before. To give up resistance, and so soon, is it selfish—wrong?

It takes only a couple of minutes until Carter joins me. “I know you have many questions. It’s a lot to take in, I’m aware of that.” Her voice is calm, neutral, without a hint of apology.

“See, there are people who’d like to hear from me every once in a while. I’m not sure if the same is true for you, but that’s the way it is.”

She gets the jibe, her face falling, but it’s a moment so brief I might have imagined it.

“You know that your job and studies are taken care of—that covers most of your friends. I want you to have time to settle in, to become aware of everything this offer includes. You may call your parents. I will provide you with a cell phone that cannot be traced, though you might want to wait for a few hours, because it’s in the middle of the night there. I can tell you that the only calls you’ve gotten since your absence is from your internet provider, a couple of telemarketers and one wrong number.”

I pick my jaw up from the floor, thinking that it’s probably not looking very attractive, and this entire game kind of hinges on her finding me attractive, doesn’t it? There’s also some faint disappointment in the realization that no one seems to miss me. Carter picks up the shift in my mood from cocky to once again clueless, and she steps closer.

“It’s not you,” she says softly. “It’s all in the plan, and my people had to be convincing. I had to make sure there’d be no police involved. Everyone says you worked hard and deserve some time for yourself.”

“Except it’s not just time for myself. It’s for you, and you have a high opinion of yourself if you think you can make all of this look like…”

“…it’s meant to be?” Carter finishes. “I believe so. I don’t make investments when I think the end results aren’t worth it.”

“I’m sure. So that’s what I am—an investment with fairly promising prospects?”

She holds my gaze as her fingers travel up my arm. I can’t hide my reaction, the shiver skittering down my spine.

“You are so much more than that.”

Am I? I want to believe her. I think I’ll feel better once I talked to my parents, though I’m not sure what to tell them. It’s not just that the world has changed drastically. I have changed already.

“I’m sorry I have to leave you alone for lunch. Marlene will be in the dining room. She’ll prepare whatever you like. I’ll get you when it’s a better time to call, and then I’ll show you the pool. Dinner will be more relaxed.”

“Okay.” Whatever, I almost add, but I don’t want to sound like a brat, even though I’m obviously being spoiled. I wonder what would happen if I ordered oysters. I won’t. I’m not a big fan of seafood.

When are we going to stop this awkward dance and get to what she really brought me here for?

Reviews are sexy.

Authors depend on them. Aside from the fact that we love feedback, they also help with visibility, on Amazon and with book promoters. Write them as long or as short as you'd like--whatever you're comfortable with. Thank you for writing them! You are making a difference.

You can find The Gift here.

Excerpt: Surrender Your Heart (Just because)

Inspired by a thread in a certain Facebook group--I couldn't resist. This scene from Surrender Your Heart is completely on topic. I know I have another book to promote right now (The Gift), but Penny and Carter will always have a special place in my heart. Judging from my readers' response, they feel the same. If you are new to the Surrender Trilogy, I hope you're intrigued by this little snippet.

Excerpt:

I stand in the bathroom for a few indecisive moments, then I decide to take full advantage of the moment. It’s either that or driving myself crazy, crazier about all the ways this could go terribly wrong.

I find Marlene and ask her for a glass of bubbles, a little cocktail before dinner which she promptly provides. My next request is a little more delicate even though I don’t intend to go into details. Oh well. She’s a woman. She’ll know, but then again, she probably is aware of Carter’s intentions anyway.

“I’m so sorry, Ms. Elliot, I can’t do that,” she says, her eyes wide, expression a bit shocked that I would even ask for something like that. I sigh. Maybe I’ll have to go into specifics after all.

“I know Carter doesn’t want me to have sharp objects, but I swear, I’m not going to destroy anything with it, and I’m not going to try to kill myself. I just want to shave my legs.” …and trim in other areas, maybe, but that is definitely something I won’t spell out for Marlene. I’m blushing as it is.

“Can’t that wait for a few more hours?”

That’s the point, though, I don’t want Carter to be around. This is where I’m having trouble with playing the role that’s expected of me. I’ve been taking care of these things forever—having them taken out of my hands, even if those are small, inconsequential things, bothers me. I have a closet full of amazing dresses, skirts, and bathing suits. I want smooth legs, damn it, is that too much to ask for?

“I promise, I won’t tell. Please.” All of a sudden, this small piece of independence has become very important, more than the bubble bath in the giant tub, with a glass of champagne on the side. I want to do this, badly—and then I think, whatever. It’s not like Marlene can tell anyone.

“Listen, when Carter comes back, I’m sure she’d like something to take her mind off business…so I want everything to be ready. I want to be ready.” I break the eye contact, because I’m not able to do this otherwise. “You know what I mean. I’m sure you also know exactly how I got here, so I’d think you could help me with one little thing that would make me more comfortable. I am not going to hurt myself.”

When I look up, Marlene’s demeanor tells me she’s still uneasy, but she nods. “I’ll get you what you need. I’ll be right back, and I want you to give it back to me when you’re done. Just this once.”

“I can do that. Thank you.”

True to her word, she is back with one of the pink razors you love to hate, but use anyway. I’ll make do.

When she’s gone, I sink into the warm water, laughing at myself. What do I need a relaxing bath for? I did nothing all day except read and walk around for a bit. Frankly, I’m not a fan of exercise, but I should find something to do. It would help if I could go to the pool by myself. I have to talk it over with Carter. What is she afraid of? Where would I go?

I put on a short red dress and flat sandals, and for the first time, I add some jewelry to the outfit. This is all mine. I shouldn’t feel like a thief, or a gold digger.

I don’t put on evening make-up. I’ve never been a make-up person, and so my skills are sketchy, not that I ever thought they matter. A bit of lipstick and perfume will do. As much as I was creeped out, scared even in the beginning, I find as much fascination in exploring the possibilities of my new self.

This is all between me and Carter, and to some extent, Marlene…and the person who broke into my apartment, drugged and brought me here, but I don’t want to think about this now. Even taking into consideration that concepts of beauty vary, that many of them are ridiculous standards enforced by patriarchy, which I don’t give a damn about...I have to admit I like what I see in the mirror. I’m not exactly a model photoshopped for a magazine cover, just a woman in clothes that fit her well. I’m excited.

I find Marlene and give her the razor back as promised. The dinner table is set for one.

All of a sudden, I want to cry, but instead, I force a smile.

Carter will be back.

The Gift: Second excerpt

Twenty days left until the release of The Gift! Here's another little teaser:

Another knock on the door wakes me, and I’m slightly disoriented for a moment until I remember. My birthday gift. This is why I’m here. I put the robe over my PJs, wondering what other surprise the hotel might have for me. The knock sounded firm, but not especially urgent, so I’m sure it’s not a fire or any other emergency.

The woman standing in front of the door must be mistaken. She’s wearing high heels, which almost put her at eye-level with me, a trench coat and a big handbag. No stockings, I realize, and frown. It’s a bit early in the year for that, although, none of my business. I’m still somewhat sleepy, and she doesn’t say anything either, so for a few heartbeats, we just study each other.

“Can I come in?” she asks with a cordial smile.

That draws me out of my reverie. “I’m sorry, you must have the wrong room. I’m not expecting anybody, Ms…”

“Lacey.” She steps into the room and closes the door.

“Okay. Lacey, whatever this is, I think you should—” Leave, I was going to say, but the word refuses to come out when she slips the coat from her shoulders, and all she’s wearing underneath is midnight blue lingerie. Tasteful, but still. I must be dreaming. I realize that my gaze has been lingering on her body far too long. She has noticed it too, an amused smile playing over her lips. I quickly bend to pick up the coat and lay it around her shoulders. It has to be a dream. Cruel, but nevertheless, a dream. Things like that do not happen in my life.

“You need to leave,” I finally manage. “Someone made a mistake.”

“Oh, I don’t think so. You’re Chloe, right? Happy Birthday. My job is to make it an especially memorable one.”

I hope you enjoyed this preview. Release Day for The Gift will be February 14th, but you'll be able to pre-order it next week, starting on January 31st!

The Gift: First excerpt!

And here's a little teaser from The Gift. You'll be able to purchase the ebook on Valentine's Day, but watch out for a pre-order link earlier than that.

It’s still all a pretense, at least on her part. I resent a world that defines our boundaries, as women, as lovers, making something this good impossible.

I wake up, disoriented, in the middle of the night. We retreated to the bed earlier, but now Lacey is dressed, picking up her purse.

“Where are you going?”

“It’s two a.m.,” she says ruefully.

“Yeah, so?”

“Oh, didn’t Debra tell you? That’s where the segment ends.”

Oh dear God.

“No, Debra didn’t tell me anything about that.” I get up, wrapping the sheet around me. “This is ridiculous. You have to get up at two and sneak out? Come back here, get some sleep.” Unless… “You have another appointment?” I try not to let it sound awfully judgmental. Seeing the dejected look on her face, I think I’ve failed.

“No. Not right away. I mean I do have an early appointment tomorrow. With the dentist,” Lacey clarifies quickly. She steps closer for a chaste kiss on the lips. “I’m sorry, it seems like everyone’s messing up when it comes to explaining the fine print. Not everyone wants to cuddle. I fell asleep…I’m sorry,” she says again.

I sigh, drawing her in a quick embrace. “It’s okay. You do what you have to do.”

This means the majority of her clients just kick her out once the job is done? There’s a small window, until two a.m., for those who don’t?

“The dentist, huh? I hope it’s quick and painless. When can I see you again?”

The question brings a smile to her face. At this point, it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. Perhaps she’s right, and I should stop obsessing about what could be, when we’re both enjoying the moment. She doesn’t want out.

The best way to assure myself that Lacey is okay, and continues to be, is to see her again—it gives me some sort of control over the situation, and the opportunity to step in if need be. Meanwhile, this arrangement comes with orgasms that are transcendental. It’s win-win.

“You have to call Debra. I don’t have my schedule with me, but I believe I could squeeze you in tomorrow.”

I think about what this means for a moment, but not very long or hard.

“I’d love to see you.”

“Okay. You can reach her at eight in the morning.”

“I’ll call her then. Wait a second. I’m going home too.”

Lacey waits by the door as I dress, and we leave the hotel together.

Coming this Valentine's Day: THE GIFT

Happy New Year! Here's a little reminder of what's coming to a Kindle near you fairly soon...

Out February 14th:

What do you do when your friends' birthday surprise turns awkward?

It's Chloe's birthday. She's successful and single, and content with her life the way it is. When her friends give her a relaxing spa weekend in a luxury hotel, she thinks nothing of going alone--after working hard for a long time, she has earned it. Chloe doesn't know that the weekend includes some time with Lacey, or that what she has to offer to her, would be so hard to resist.

Lacey knows how to keep her emotional distance from a client. Reluctant Chloe turns out to be a challenge in many ways, and soon both of them face difficult decisions. Can they really go back to the way things were before--do they want to? Or can life go into a different, unexpected direction altogether?
